Being the teacher for the first day

My first day as a teacher was at Red Hill School, there were heaps of children playing together and sharing, some were also painting, but when the bell rang all the children had to line up. When it was time to work we did a language activity then we did a spelling test the words they had to spell were kind, can, the, this, then, time, team, they were all hard words the children said.
The bell rang and it was Lunch time the children told me  “when we are finished eating were going to playing basketball. The children said that is a fun game let's play another game. Let’s play soccer the I said let's get into  teams and play. when we finished playing the bell rang
So it was time for maths the children said maths is the best.the children  said I like doing subtractions and time
tables. So we did a basic fact test. When they were finished the bell rang and it was home time. After the children had gone home to their parents, I said to myself what a great day.

  1. Kia ora Mariah, what a great story! I really enjoyed it very much. You have made sure that your class have a lot of varied activities during your day as teacher. If you had another day, would you do anything differently?

  2. WOW Mariah, I noticed that you like structure and understand that this helps students to be settled. Was great to see you making time for the arts in your day. Would you consider an inquiry time? What would this look like?

  3. Wow it is great to read how sporty your students are, I was pleased to read they did some language work learning how to spell words. It would be nice to see how this teaching model continues, if you were to be a teacher again for a second day. How would you include some mathematics?
